Tomato Sauce

A tomato product that is thicker than tomato juice but not as thick as tomato puree. Herbs, spices, onion, and garlic are commonly used to enhance the flavour. The most basic tomato sauce is simply chopped tomatoes cooked down (possibly with olive oil) and simmered until they lose their raw flavour. Of course, it can be seasoned with salt as well as other herbs and spices.
